TOPICS DISCUSSED:

The meeting opened with Kari Page introducing the above City employees, followed with presentations by each of them regarding their individual departments and services they offer our community.

Then the $25,000 in available funds was discussed, with opportunity for our NRHNA to make suggestions for the use of the moneys. Suggestions ranged a wide gamut from park improvements, to covered bus shelters along NE 85th for the High School students, to improved lighting of street intersections, improved walking trails, covered picnic shelters, electrical power to Woodlands Park, among others.

WE HAVE UNTIL OCTOBER 10 TO SUBMIT ADDITIONAL SUGGESTIONS TO Kirkland City Hall.

A follow-up meeting will be held at our November 19, NRHNA General Meeting, at 7:30 at Firestation 26 to review suggestions received to date. A consolidation of these suggestions will be incorporated onto a ballot to be sent to each neighborhood resident in January, 2002 for voting by mail.

Spring 2002, an ACTION PLAN will be mailed to the neighborhood describing the results of the voting and the plan for implementation.

Each neighbor should have received in a mailing during Septemberg, a postcard entitled “NEIGHBORHOOD CONNECTION” ACTION REQUEST. These forms can be used to submit suggestions for use of the $25,000 allocated to NRH, or can be used to make suggestions for other improvements. It was explained that often when the requests are reviewed, they realize that the item may fall into an already budgeted category and will be forwarded to those departments for processing and follow-up.

The City Staff also brought KIRKLAND CONTACTS phone brochures with them to the meeting for distribution. For those who missed them, you can stop by City Hall to pick up your own copy.

New and/or improved Bus Routes made their debut on September 29. Check your bus schedules to see how you may be able to make use of Routes 238, 230 and 277.

Meeting adjourned: 9:10 p.m.

Respectfully submitted by,

Nancy Stephens
