GENERAL MEETING of the North Rose Hill Neighborhood Association

Mike Stults, Karen Tennyson, Margaret Carnegie, Toby Nixon, Marilyn Beard and many more neighbors

REPRESENTATIVE TOBY NIXON gave us a Legislative Wrap-up providing information regarding State Legislation (What passed and didn't pass.) (Toby replaced Kathy Lambert in Olympia)
1. SEAT BELT LAW was changed.
2. MOVE CARS now after accidents.
3. 911 Cell Phones can now be tracked w/GPS
4. SICK LEAVE can now be used to care for family members.
5. More info available on MARRIAGE LAWS.
6. TRANSPORTATION Packages

OTHER BUSINESS:
MARILYN BEARD, FINANCE DIRECTOR OF THE CITY OF KIRKLAND
1. General Fund is down because of loss of sales tax. We lot $800,000 from big businesses closing. Could be $1-2 million shortfall for the year.
2. We can cut programs and services. Can raise taxes and fees or some of both to compensate for the shortfall. 
3. The 2003 CITY OF KIRKLAND BUDGET is being developed currently. She welcomes input.
4. Articles in the Kirkland Courier, Council Meeting, Kirkland Conversations. 
5. Look at a City-side vision. There will be Fall meetings for input regarding what we want and how to pay for it.

4TH OF JULY PARADE
Volunteers need to assemble the week before the Parade. We need a pickup truck to be loaned to the cause. And we encourage you to invite your kids to join the parade with us, decorating their wagons and bicycles, etc. 

PICNIC UPDATE
Picnic will be held on July 20th, the 3rd Saturday in July, with the park reserved for NRHNA from Noon - 4:00 p.m.
BBQ has been reserved for rental.
Activities: Pie Baking Contest & Judges, bouncer for the kids, volleyball.
Entertainment: Recorded music and Swing Dance lessons.
Donations will be welcomed to defray party costs.

FUTURE CELEBRATION:

Completion of NE 100th Street Overpass - suggested that we have a "Hands Across the Highway" Neighborhood Celebration with the HIGHLANDS Neighbors.

PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING:
Thursday, May 23 to discuss North Rose Hill at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.
