·          Last year the Heritage Society bought the cake for the picnic and the question came up as to who would donate this year.  Sharon Clark wrote a check for $25 to put towards the cake purchase.

The theme this year for the 4th of July parade is “All American Sports”

Kayley asked for help on the float and Margaret and Karen offered their assistance.

Ideas to bring the Neighborhood together:

·          Softball Game otherwise known as the “Freeway Cup”

·          Neighborhood Perennial Swap (garden plants)

·          Neighborhood Garage Sale Day

Betty Lou has updated the welcome packets:

A card inserted with neighbors to fill out with name address, phone number and email.

A suggestion of a neighborhood newsletter

A more face to face element when welcoming new people to the neighborhood.

Extra Grant Money – Do we apply?

The discussion of what to use the money for:

·          the January Mailing

·          supplies for the welcome packets

·          a bench at the park, Dave suggested to have some designated areas for people to put up a remembrance bench

The last $3,500 extra money applied for went to:

·          Mailings

·          picnic

·          4th of July

·          Bark for Mark Twain

When requesting the Grant monies we give a general idea of where the dollars are to be spent and instead of in the past where the city gave the neighborhoods a flat check, we now have to keep receipts and keep a time log of how much time the neighborhood puts into the projects and then submit to the city and then we get reimbursed.

Treasurers report:

North Rose Hill account $1,014.00

Grant account $1,000.00

We decided on one big mailing for the January meeting, and another mailing in July.  This year the second mailing will be in September since we are already in June.

Karen had suggested a Holiday Celebration to be held at Woodlands Park, more discussion at a later meeting.

85th Street Corridor: Requests and suggestions

·          Tire and Automotive uses to stay closer to 405

·          Conduit should be installed underground when the street is dug up for future cabling

·          A mention of public taking for sidewalks is happening now.

Centennial Trees: Elizabeth Walker from the city said that there will be trees available this fall for planting in the neighborhood.

Walking Routes: the map is set up and the suggestion was to have Tom Hodgeson to design the map.

Margaret asked why NRHNA was not involved with the Forges Lake clearing: It was said that it is a State Decision so there is no issue with the neighborhood.

Suggestions for September meeting:

·          Safety concerns along 124th

·          Margaret to write a letter to police re: extra traffic control

·          Ivy Pull

·          Neighborhood to form group to help elderly with yard work

·          Community response team for future meeting

·          Linda Hanaman form Totem Lake to come and update NRH on their Neighborhood.  And a suggestion to have other neighborhood reps to come to our meetings to update us on their happenings.

Meeting adjourned at 9:10
