The NRHNA is due to receive the $25,000 grant form the City of Kirkland in 2007, so start to think of how the Neighborhood would like to spend the funds.

Accomplishments of the Neighborhood Association this past year:

  • Thanks to Kevin Miller, a past board member, for the Woodlands Park Play Ground built in June.  He had a vision of the playground and got the ball rolling and the Play Ground was a total community effort, with donations of monies, supplies and a great work force.

  • Forbes Lake Monitoring.  Neighbors take water samples each month and send them to City to keep help the lake healthy, which it has a diagnosis of good health.

  • Each July 4th the neighborhood has an entry in the parade to represent NRH.

  • The NRHNA sponsors and puts on a Neighborhood picnic in July, which is always a success.

  • Mark Twain Clean up: Neighbors pull weeds and pick up trash.

  • 124th Street Cleanup: Neighbors pick up trash along 124 from 85th to 116th.

  • Tree Planting: Rose Hill requested and planted the most trees of all the Kirkland Neighborhood Associations.

  • Neighborhood Welcome Packets:  Revamped and updated this year.

  • A Walking map of NRH is being created and soon to be available.

Mastro Property Presentation:  South West Corner of 116th and 124th at the North end of NRH.

Freheit and Ho Architects: Rick Grimes

·         The project is in front of the Design Review Board at this time.  The next meeting is the first Monday in March.

·         They had worked on reducing the massing of the building and the presentation they brought to the meeting were those revisions.

·         The project at the moment is 60,000 sf of Office and 50 apartment units

Landscape Architect: Ray Robinson

·         They are planning to make the corner of the property at 124th and 116th a gateway to NRH, with benches, covered walkways, a Kiosk and a North Rose Hill sign.

·         There is planned a plaza on 124th and 115th.

·         At the furthest West section of property will be a small Urban Forest with NW plants and a pathway meandering through the area.

Traffic Engineer: Jeff Schramm

·         This project would generate 1200 to 1300 new vehicle trips per day, a 2-4% increase overall on 124th.

·         Currently 124th carries a load of 17,000-18,000 trips per day, 1,800 just during rush hour.

·         Intersection of Slater and 124th a problem spot, so proposing a center divider so coming off of Slater.115th to 124th is a right turn only.  A traffic light is proposed at 112th.

·         The State is improving the off and on ramps at 116th and Highway 405 to improve the traffic flow.

·         124th from 116th to the other 124th is planned to be widened to 5 lanes in the future, two each direction with a turn lane in the middle.
