Mike Stults gave a report on the 2006 Final report of Neighborhood Matching Grant.  The Report shows all the work the neighborhood has done over the past year to show the neighborhood merits the $3500 Grant plus the additional $2000 available.

Kaylee moved to except the report and Betty Lou seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.

Mike shared the work he is doing on the 2007 application for the Neighborhood Matching Grant of $3,500.00.  We as a group went over the application on each item to confirm the hours and projects for NRHNA. A Discussion on mass mailing to the entire neighborhood which consists of every household and the email list which numbers around 300 households.

Project categories:

·         Communications: Mailings, email, and all that is part of communications.

·         Maintenance: 124th Street Clean-up, Mark Twain Clean-up

·         Picnic: Neighborhood Picnic in July of each year; all that is involved in the picnic, food entertainment, and more.

·         Parade: Float in the 4th of July parade representing the neighborhood

We agreed to add a new category

·         Education and Outreach: Newspaper Article, Website maintenance, Meeting notes, assigning a person on the board to attend and listen to council meetings to report back to the neighborhood of what is happening with the city and any other important information that involves NRH.

Margaret was going to ask Arthur Best if he would like to take on that role as the vice chair of the NRHNA and report council meetings to the neighborhood.

There was a suggestion to put down on the application the real budget not a budget that will equal the $3,500 matching fund to show the neighborhood is truly involved and the matching funds are greatly appreciated.

With the added information and such Mike suggested he make the changes and send out via email to the board, and we the board could approve the application via email  after all revisions and changes have been made.  The board agreed unanimously.

·         Betty Lou made a motion that the board approve and send a $25.00 check to the League of Women Voters to help pay for the pamphlets they print up that Betty Lou inserts into the welcome packets for new neighbors on NRH.  Kaylee Seconded. The vote was unanimous to sent $25.00 to the League of Women Voters.

·         Linda brought up the King County Metro in Motion; the gist of the Metro in Motion is to get more people to ride Metro and get out of their cars.  She said that the program may be a great idea and a viable program, but in her research, it is a great deal of work and did not think we as a board should get involved.

·         Neighborhood Happenings:

There is an application in the City and is in front of the Design Review Board to put an Organic Grocery Store in the building that is on the North East corner of 126th and 85th, where the Holistic Medicine offices are next to the Shell Station.

The City Ministries PUD will happen on March 1st.

·         Slater Traffic Calming: there is no new information since the January General Meeting.

·         Jeff Trager announced that he is considering resigning as the Neighborhood Reporter in the Kirkland Courier and was wondering if there would be anybody who would like to take on the job.

·         Jeff Trager spoke on behalf of the Park Board announcing the presentation of the study to build an Indoor Recreation Community Center which would house a lap swimming pool, basket ball courts, community room; 9 acres would be required to build the project and it could cost anywhere from 30 to 50 million.  The presentation will be March 6, at 6:00 pm in the Peter Kirk Room at City Hall.
