North Rose Hill Neighborhood Association               Fire station #26
Board Meeting
August 20, 2007

Meeting called to order by Margaret Carnegie at 7 pm.  Members present:  Mike Stults, Milton Olson, Dave Boyer, Kaylee Nylan, and Betty Lou Crampton.

Margaret passed around a letter she had proposed sending to the newly appointed Chief of Police.  She congratulated him and reminded him of recent concerns of North Rose Hill residents who felt police could have been more responsive to their concerns and suggestions for follow-up.  The Board agreed the letter should be sent.

SURVEY

The question of whether or not to do a survey as those done in 1998 and 2004 was discussed.  It was proposed and accepted to do a survey in January 2008 using two approaches:  mail and on-line responses.  The previous questionnaires seemed outdated and the Board decided that more current topics could be explored with the idea of ability to respond to identified needs and preferences.  Suggested topics for meetings were homeowners' responsibilities, housing density in the neighborhood despite zoning, police communications and response, traffic and speed control.  Milt Olson is setting up a web page for North Rose Hill.  Margaret will contact the resident Bob Forgrave who gave input on a Seattle survey and invite him to the next Board meeting.

PICNIC

Dave reported that the attendance at the picnic was about the same as last year and the weather cooperated.  The dj's contribution of music was welcome and appropriate and appreciated.  Ten pies were entered in competition in the pie contest and the suggestion was made to have a junior pie contest for young people.  Some are thinking about a chili contest.  Dave suggested having people who have a specific interest, (such as building birdhouses)  display their work.  Betty Lou suggested games for older people to encourage communication (something like bingo).

The Board segued into other plans for parties such as an indoor Halloween party, an ice-cream social with games on the meadow, an all neighborhood garage sale at individual houses.

Mike showed us his bookkeeping pages and how we should be keeping track of time when working on NRHNA projects.
