General Meeting of the North Rose Hill Neighborhood Association
Place: North Rose Hill fire Station
Date: September 17, 2007
Call to Order: 7:00
The meeting was called to order by Margaret Carnegie at 7:00 pm.
The question posed as usual, “What brought people to the Neighborhood meeting”
· The eleven came due to the mailing of the postcard
· Three came due to the neighborhood signs on the streets
· Three came because a neighbor informed them of the meeting.
· One email reminder
· Seven neighbors came to the meeting for the very first time.
Environment Education and Outreach:
City employee Betsy Adams came to talk about vegetation at the run off pond at 94th way and 126th Ave. NE. This is a neighborhood project hosted by the city to replant around the pond with natural vegetation. The planting project will be held Saturday October 27th 9:00 a.m. to 1:00.
Kari Page from the city came to talk about the neighborhood grant and what our $25,000 grant could be used for. The attached flyer is the different options we as a neighborhood can vote for as our improvements.
Dave Frazier introduced Northwest Earth Institute. They are a group of citizens that talk about Environmental Issues and get together to share ideas in discussion groups. There are publications that are $20 per issue as the course discussions.
Sasha Shaw came to talk about Noxious Weeds and gave us a number of handouts and the county’s website to gain more information. http://dnr.metrokc.gov/weeds
It would be very beneficial to log on in you do not have the handouts and find out what the county would prefer we do not plant in our yards and show us what we should remove.
A North Rose Hill neighbor came to alert the neighborhood of seven (7) burglaries that happened during the day over Labor Day Weekend on NRH. There was also mention of vandalism is up and groups of kids causing the trouble.
A Thank You to the Mark Twain Elementary clean-up crew: Kaylee Nilan, Jeff Trager and Zoe, Mary Alyce Burleigh, Malia Campbell, Carol Lewis and sons, Dave Asher, Mike Stults, and Margaret Carnegie.
Margaret read a letter from the new Police Chief Eric Olsen, introducing himself and letting us know that he is available if we ever had questions.

Thanks to all who helped reseal the wood at Woodlands Park in July.
Thanks to all who helped and attended the Picnic at Woodlands Park back in July. Dave is looking for more ideas such as: a talent show, to incorporate in next year’s event. If anyone has any ideas please let us know.
Bridget Powers, Director of Boys and Girls Club: needs 15-20 helpers for games from 5:00 to 7:00 on Friday October 26th. You can contact Bridget at 827-0132 if you can help. They also need cupcakes and individually wrapped candy. They also could use help for teen nights on First Friday of each month and daily tutoring.
Linda Jones had had an on going complaint with Honda regarding the beeping of the horns when they go out to the parking lot to find cars, it looks as though there has been a compromise and the beeping will be halted.
Mike Stults gave the treasurer report and the check book is at $2,846.00. He also said that Honda of Kirkland donated $1200 to cover the bouncers for the July picnic.
