Building community and maintaining a great neighborhood to live in.

Board Meeting of the North Rose Hill Neighborhood Association

Place: North Rose Hill fire Station

Date: August 18, 2008

Call to Order: 7:00

North Rose Hill Board meeting was called to order by Margaret at 7pm.

Survey: 22 more surveys were completed at the annual picnic, bringing the total surveys to 92. The top issue from the survey was safety and in particular sidewalks. Kaylee agreed to check with the City and find out what Kirkland has in the CIP for sidewalks in North Rose Hill.

Parking at the new Forbes Creek Park. Per Arthur there is parking planned on 124th. We would like to schedule the City to come to a general meeting to identify what is in the plan and maintenance of sidewalks.

Community Building Opportunities: Promote block parties; and open gym night. Possible locations could be Mark Twain El, City Church, or  Presbyterian Church.

How often should the survey be done? Bob suggested yearly. This will be discussed further at a later date.

Annual neighborhood picnic: Corporate fundraising was suggested. Many corporations have donation budgets and frequently the dollars are spoken for within the first quarter of the fiscal year.  Patti will look into that further.

Dave reported that the picnic was very successful. 400 hot dogs were consumed. There were no leftovers.

Betty Lou suggested a neighborhood helping hand day to pull ivy at a residence on 128th Ave NE and NE 87th.  It was suggested that maybe it could be done on the same day as the Mark Twain El cleanup.

Kaylee announced the Mark Twain El cleanup is scheduled for Aug 30 at 9am. All are welcome and encouraged to come by and help.

Arthur will look into meeting specific signs that will have the agenda printed on them.

Patti reported on happenings at the City Council meetings. The Council ruled in favor or the appellant (CiViK) in the BofA/Merrill Gardens semi-judicial proceedings. The Council ruled in favor of the applicant with modification in the McLeod project. The Planning Commission meetings are moving forward with discussion of the ParkPlace redevelopment PAR and will soon be taking up the Costco gas station PAR.

The meeting was adjourned at 9pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Patti Sutter
