NORTH ROSE HILL NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION MINUTES of GENERAL MEETING, JANUARY 19, 1998 7:30 PM
Ray Hansen opened the meeting and welcomed approximately 35 attendees.
Minutes of the Nov. 17th general meeting were distributed. No exceptions were made.
Loris gave Treasurer's report: general fund beginning balance Nov 17 plus $39.00 donations income, minus $11.85 City Grant report prep and $88.98 printing & mailing equals $104.23 balance Jan 19. City grant was closed out by refund of $23.28 excess to city.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Ray commended the mailing team on timely postcards to over 300 residents. He reported on 3 types of ongoing meetings with City of Kirkland:
Traffic Committee, reference sidewalks & safety (next meeting Jan 30) Parks Committee. on resources for improvement of Woodlands Park addition Zoning, regarding 124th Avenue PO Professional Office issues and PUD/innovative plats
Community Character results were distributed as per the Agenda. Further input was solicited by Ray.
The Don Powers memorial plaque will be dedicated at Mark Twain Park; date to be announced.
Skip Boylan reported in detail on Bel-Red-Overlake Transportation Study update. The 100th Street Extension into Redmond will be debated in the early summer adoption of the transportation update.
Todd Boyle reported on the Jan. 15 PTSA meeting. PTSA favors the upcoming levy and believes the Twain school needs it. PTSA welcomes communications with NRHNA on various topics.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
The comp plan workgroup reported near completing the association's recommended updates to the NRH section of the plan. NRH will suggest wording, consistent with the existing plan and single family character, to clarify some loopholes which have resulted in as many as 26 units per acre and other problems.
Residents reported on several specific high-density development projects.
Dave Asher posted a Map locating pedestrian accidents and warned about special dangers at 116th Street and 124th Ave, and along 85th Street.
A map showing numerous proposed new street connections on NRH was also posted.
Darryl Reed reported on Sidewalks. Twain School policy is all students must walk if less than 1-mile, but most streets lack sidewalks. PTSA preparing an official motion to city requesting sidewalks.
Jeff Trager reported the topic for NRH March meeting will be Sewers. Program will include outside speakers and information resources.

Topic for this meeting was setting objectives for North Rose Hill for 1998. Mary-Alyce Burleigh led the group in listing these goals:
Advancing Pedestrian Safety (including concurrent with road improvements) Sewers Comp Plan amendments (including PUDs and innovative short plats) Community outreach such as Habitat for Humanity Transportation (including 100th street extension/Redmond plans, 85th corridor etc.) Exploring "greater NRHNA" organization possibilities for neighbors east of 132nd.
